Technical Difficulties

The musical, student-run, short film "Technical Difficulties" is about Frankie and her brother Walter. They are two kids who always tend to get themselves into trouble. This scenario is when they are playing basketball, and they accidentally smash the family TV. Their parents, Maria and Harvey, are no strangers to Frankie and Walter getting into trouble, but Frankie trying to weasel her way out of the problem by not accepting responsibility for breaking the TV was the final straw. Their parents become angry and upset with Frankie for acting immaturely. Frankie realizes that her parents are beyond frustrated with her and convinces her brother to get a job at the local DVD store with her to save enough money to buy a TV even better than the one they originally broke. Frankie then gets herself in a situation to decide between taking the easy way out and doing the hard work. Will Frankie learn her lesson about responsibility and growing up, or will she take the easy way out? Find out by watching “Technical Difficulties”.

I was the Producer and the Editor for this year-long project. My responsibilities as a producer were focused on pre-production work and production work. For pre-production, I was responsible for managing finances, including budgeting, scheduling, and hosting auditions, creating call sheets, and managing social media. During Production, my role as the producer was to organize the meals and snacks, book and reserve hotel rooms for the actors and crew, keep everyone on schedule with the call sheet, and update the finances.

I was also the editor for Technical Difficulties. I was in charge of editing the entire film. This is from organizing and naming each audio and video file. I color-corrected each clip, edited the audio, and created clean cuts to keep the story of the film flowing at a nice pace. I also had to work on a deadline and had to take feedback and criticism from others to make this film the best it could be. I was very dedicated to this project and learned so much about the film working world, and learned a lot about myself and what roles I thrive in.
