All The Little Things
All The Little Things is a short film I created to raise awareness about suicide prevention and the impact everyday struggles can have on someone’s mental state. I created this as my final assignment in my High School film class.
The idea behind the film is simple but important: the small frustrations, pressures, and “little things” we brush off can slowly pile up and change how someone sees their own existence.
The film follows a character as they deal with a series of small, seemingly harmless inconveniences. Most commonly, the kind most of us experience without thinking twice, along with some big life-altering moments. But as each moment builds on the last, it becomes clear how heavy those tiny setbacks can feel when someone is already battling their own thoughts.
My goal with this project was to show that compassion, patience, and paying attention truly matter. We don’t always know what someone is carrying, and sometimes acknowledging the little things can make the biggest difference.
This film is a reminder to be kind, to look out for one another, and to check in. Every person, every moment, and every little thing matters.
I knew I wanted to create a film like this in high school. It feels especially important because these are the years when many people quietly face their hardest internal battles. Students are dealing with pressure, identity, expectations, and the constant feeling of needing to keep it together. By making this film now, in this environment, it opens the door for conversations we don’t always know how to start. It reminds people our age that they aren’t alone, their feelings matter, and reaching out for help is never something to be ashamed of.
This film was shown during an “Open House-Art Night” at the High School. Students and parents came during off-hours, where art was displayed throughout the building. My film was shown in the auditorium with the other selected films.
Five Students singled out one student by pointing at her making her feel isolated.
