Trick for a Treat is a playful, nostalgia-driven short film created for Yellow Jacket Television that explores the sense of humor and spontaneity within a high school community. In this project, I set out across campus with a simple challenge for the student body: Can you finish some of the most iconic Vine quotes of all time? This idea came to me due to the recent deletion of the popular Vine app in 2017.
Blending documentary-style interviews with quick-cut comedic timing, the film captures genuine reactions, confident reenactments, and hilariously uncertain attempts. Each moment highlights how deeply these six-second internet classics have embedded themselves into pop culture, even years after the platform’s peak. Adding the actual vine clip being referenced after each interview to give context to the challenge faced before them.
Through its upbeat pacing and candid energy, Trick for a Treat becomes more than just a game; it’s a snapshot of shared digital nostalgia within a modern high school. The film showcases my ability to produce engaging on-the-ground content, direct spontaneous interactions, and craft a cohesive narrative out of unscripted moments.
